In The Heart Of The Dark Woods – Review

I received a copy of this book for my honest opinion.

you can purchase the book here”:

“In the Heart of the Dark Woods” is the third book in a series about people and events that occur in the town of Mattingly–more specifically the woods. This installment begins two years after “The Devil Walks in Mattingly” left off. Twelve year old Allie Ganderson is still grieving the loss of her mother who disappeared in the wild tornado winds. Her body was never recovered and Allie can’t rest not knowing what happened to her mother.

They run into some creepy … creatures? Hard to say. It’s cold, and they become frostbitten. They quickly go through the handful of candy bars they brought. They have a few conversations about God having “sharp edges” (to me, this felt added-on to make it a “Christian” book — it’s published by Thomas Nelson, but didn’t strike me as overly Christian in feel.

If reading a really long story about kids lost in the woods resolves as a great book to you go for it.  To me it was a horrible book

Messy Beautiful Love – Review

Messy Beautiful Love: Hope and Redemption for Real-Life Marriages

By Darlene Schacht

Published by Thomas Nelson

Darlene Schacht, who writes at Time Warped Wife, has written an amazing book of love, regaining trust, power of praying for your marriage and just simply believing in you, your spouse, God and your marriage, definitely not in that order.

Messy Beautiful Love, is about the author’s own story and steps that they took to rebuild their marriage through God’s eternal mercy and grace.  It’s about cleaning up YOUR messes, GOD’s way.

I cannot say enough about this book as a wife, a daughter of Christ and a person that has divorced and has troubles in their marriage (but really who doesn’t)

With the book, there is a 31 day prayer challenge that goes along with it that can be found here

Messy Beautiful Love Trailer

this book has given me hope, in my personal walk.  However, for the public, it offers, life suggestions, real life challenges, to real life issues.  Not just what that “Proverbs 31 wife and Corinthians 13 Love says”  Love is Messy, Love Hurts.   Love can also be one of the most beautiful things in this world that a man and woman share.

I strongly recommend this book to anyone that is struggling in a current relationship, a relationship that needs closure, or a relationship that needs to be reevaluated.  Married or not.  The information in this amazing little book is so Godly and truth filled that I have read it 3 times, already and am fixing to start it again.

Each chapter has scripture, prayers, and every chapter has a challenge at the end.  Schacht talks about surrendering your relationship to God and in doing so, you find complete joy in experiencing Love as He intended.

This book is available in print, Kindle, Audio and many other ways.

Vivid Brushstrokes

Vivid Brushstrokes: The Overlooked Reality of God in Our Everyday LivesI want to give this 10 stars!
This book has such a creative nature in it! I love the artistic descriptions, from car parts, to dental floss, to drinking water. This book is so refreshing to read about everyday, normal things, and how you can turn anything into a lesson about God’s love for us.
Mr Borden did an amazing job in Vivid Brushstrokes, of describing these everyday objects into artistic, but still technical pieces of God’s love drawing from his own life experiences, using humor, seriousness and everything else in between!

I loved this book so much, I want it in hardback with illustrations.
What a beautiful book that would be!
